Some fight fans believe that the NHL is slowly and methodically changing their rules to remove fisticuffs from hockey. That may be giving the league too much credit but let’s assume the premise is correct – what should their next step be? Something stealthy of course and a subtle change that they could claim wasn’t a change at all.
The time has come for the NHL and NHLPA to show maturity, to display concern for their players and to promote the beauty of hockey instead of supporting a culture of fighting. From this humble site I hope to rally others with a similar opinion and communicate this message to hockey officals at all levels of the game.

Shanahan – NHL Enforcer’s Days Are Numbered
Brendan Shanahan departed from his usual script during his most recent suspension announcement to express his disappointment with a few of NHLPA members. “The NHL Department of Player Safety is overworked and stretched to the limit because certain players are doing whatever the hell they like and not focusing on hockey. I’m talking about enforcers and their inability to protect their teammates and take care of the rats”.

The Magical Time Before The Instigator Rule
During HNIC’s Coach’s Corner on April 21st, Don Cherry, who has not coached in over 30 years, called for the removal of the instigator rule (Rule 46.11). He was making the point that players should be policing the game, adding, “You can’t have a mad dog sitting on the bench.” Even though he stated, “I know you can’t go back,” it was clear that he wanted a return to the good old days.
